Sweet Summer Time

Beat the heat this summer and have some fun in the sun when you visit Highlands, NC. There are lots of fun ways to keep cool in this summer heat and below are a few of our favorite outdoor activities!

Make a Splash
Enjoy beautiful Lake Glenville or any of the many streams or lakes in the area. The lake’s cool mountain waters are perfect for fishing.

There are also many waterfalls in the Highlands/Cashiers area that are easily enjoyed. Pack a lunch and enjoy one of the many hiking trails in the area, followed by a nice dip in one of the refreshing waterfalls. Fish Tales
Highlands happens to be one of Nature’s Greatest fishing paradises! Bring the family or a group of friends, because you’ll make many memories and have great fish tales to pass on! Whether you prefer fishing on lakes or in streams and rivers, there’s a perfect spot to drop your line.

Some great options include Harris Lake, Cliffside Lake Recreation Area and other in-town and surrounding-area lakes. Cliffside Lake, in particular, is stocked with Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout.

There are also several fantastic rivers that anglers around here love, including the Cullasaja and the Chattooga.

Homegrown Goodness
Come discover nature’s bounty at The Village Green Community Tailgate Market. The market will be open during the growing season from 3:00-7:00 p.m. every Wednesday at The Village Green Commons on Frank Allen Road. The Village Green Community Tailgate Market will provide area growers with an alternative opportunity to sell fresh, nutritious, locally sourced food in a convenient location. Cost is Free!

Dance the Night Away
Saturdays on Pine is the place to be on Saturday nights here in Highlands. Saturday on Pine is a free summer concert series brought to you by the Highlands Chamber of Commerce, The Ugly Dog Pub, and other generous sponsors. The concerts start at 6:00 P.M. and are held at the Kelsey Hutchinson Park on Pine Street. Come mingle, dance and enjoy great music!
